Boy with Expression

Over the years my family not only got used to my photography passion but they also began to enjoy to model for me. Not always in the beginning, but as soon we start we get the best results. Like my session with Marc here. He has many great facial expression skills and can switch from melancholic to funny to angry in seconds.

Outside Session at Below Zero

This was my first friendship session by a freezing -10. Christina & Tina wanted to do a farewell shooting before one of them left for Mexico on a Mission trip. We went to a place with a classy old car standing on the yard for quite some time. Afterwards we took the shooting to a area with lots of poplar trees  which had been planted precisely in rows.
To do a shooting in Manitoba's coldest month outside can be tough. But we got lucky and the sun made it bearable. We were still able to pull off these great shots of the both of them.
And by the way "we do stuff like this all the time" they said.

Nothing really new

We decided to redo the design of the website www.heinrichnikel.com. Have to work on the pictures and some programing yet. In the near future you can expect the update.

And, there is something else. We are working on something special, but I can't tell just yet.

you all have a good day

One Light Portrait Session

One of the advantages of having a big family around is that you have a model at hand, most of the time. Today I share a picture I took during a Portrait Session with my wife.
They turned out pretty nice. Sometimes I get carried away by all the light setups and so on but this time I tried to concentrate on the subject and not so much on a fancy light set up.

Mad Headers Wife

This Session has been my favorite this year. I wanted to do it for a while but could not find the time. It was inspired by the Mad Header character in Alice in Wonderland. We did not have a matching teacup at the time so we did it without. But no need for it this time.
Make up, hair and the outfit was all done by my wife. The model was my daughter who always likes to participate in such projects.
She acted so great and gave me a tone of different expressions and faces. These three I thought I would share with you.
